George Manney was a Philadelphia musician, drummer, filmmaker, producer, and music archivist. For many years he conducted interviews and compiled material for a film which would document the history of popular music in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, George passed away in 2015, before the film was completed. When it comes to popular music, and especially the birth of Rock & Roll, Philadelphia is perhaps the most important area of them all. We would like to see this documentary completed as a lasting tribute to George and the many talented people who gave us the gift of great Philly music.
George Manney posted many video clips on YouTube, and all of them link to this web site. However, after George passed away, the web site also went away. My name is Mike Stein, and I discovered this fact in December of 2018. So I re-registered the domain name and put this site up. The idea is to bring all of the people and resources together to hopefully complete the film. If you were previously involved with this project, or have something to contribute, please contact me.
